How to optimize PiCCO thermodilution measurements

Optimal technical conditions for the thermodilution measurement

1

Correct patient data input (Category, Gender, Date of birth, Height and Weight)

2

Correct injectate volume input and application

3

Injection through distal lumen preferably (other lumen also possible)

4

Injectate sensor housing mounting in 90 degree angle

5

No additional extensions or stop-cocks between injectate sensor housing and CVC lumen

6

Strictly avoid infusion of any drugs (especially vasoactive or inotropic) at the injection lumen

7

Avoid infusion of parenteral nutrition (high caloric or fatty solutions) or blood through the injectate sensor housing
