Getinge’s Annual Report 2020 and Sustainability Update 2020: Creating sustainable customer value in the midst of a pandemic

Today Getinge publishes its Annual Report 2020 as well as its Sustainability Update 2020. The company shares how it focus on supporting customers with products, solutions and knowledge that help save and improve more lives.

“I feel very proud that we have managed to keep up the close collaboration with our customers despite all restrictions the pandemic imposed on us in 2020”, says Mattias Perjos, President & CEO at Getinge. “Never in the history of Getinge have we experienced anything similar and it was truly a team effort.”

Getinge reached its financial targets in 2020, due to strong growth and continued productivity improvements. The company also made progress on its strategic plan. The activities in the next few years involve improvements to the offering and productivity enhancements – with the overall aim of increasing value for customers.

“In the wake of the pandemic, we have seen the elective surgery backlog grow on a global scale and managing this is, and will continue to be, a worldwide priority”, continues Mattias Perjos. Our customers need solutions for effective and efficient usage of their resources, and by offering products and knowledge that enable this we are contributing to the greater society. For example, we introduced a new software solution innovated by our experts in weeks only, which now works as an efficient planning tool to prioritize surgical waiting lists.”

Getinge also raised its sustainability ambitions, which is described in the company’s Sustainability Framework. In addition, Getinge has announced the intention to become a CO neutral company by 2025. This target will be reached by a step-wise approach in several areas, such as switching to renewable energy sources, updating the vehicle fleet, changing business travel routines and finding new and smart logistics alternatives.

“Based on our successful strategy and with all the learnings from 2020, I feel confident that Getinge will continue to play an important role in health care and society going forward”, ends Mattias Perjos.
