Healthmark – a legacy of innovation in infection control
Beginning as a family business to becoming a leader in infection control consumables, Healthmark’s journey is filled with passion, innovation, and a strong commitment to safer healthcare. One year into its integration with Getinge, Healthmark continues to help evolve industry standards with unique solutions that improve patient safety.
“My parents started this company back in 1969, and as a kid we ran the business out of the basement. Our parents put us to work paying 35 cents an hour,” he recalls with a smile. Over the years, Steve has held multiple roles, including sales and customer service, and now leads Healthmark into its next chapter as part of Getinge.
Healthmark develops and markets innovative solutions that help healthcare facilities deliver surgical instruments and life-saving medical devices to patients. These include products for effective cleaning, validation and verification, sterilization, storage, packaging, and tools to secure emergency supplies.
“We provide solutions that make procedures safer for patients and offer education to show how our products can help. Listening to customer feedback and innovating to meet their needs is what drives our efforts forward. This approach has resulted in a significant portion of our portfolio being unique or custom-made,” Steve explains.
The integration with Getinge has unlocked new opportunities and expanded the reach of Healthmark’s solutions.
“It’s a perfect match,” Steve says. “Our expertise in cleaning processes complements Getinge’s portfolio seamlessly.”
The expanded reach is crucial as the Healthmark solutions helps tackle pressing challenges in healthcare, such as reducing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and managing the risks posed by increasingly complex surgical instruments. Recent innovations, including advancements in packaging materials and sterility assurance, highlight commitment to global healthcare.
Looking ahead, Steve envisions Healthmark as a global leader in infection control consumables.
“Joining Getinge gives us the reach and resources to expand globally while staying true to our roots as a family business driven by customer needs and innovation. Together, we make life-saving technology accessible for more people,” he says.
